How I Teach

I aim to create a fun and enjoyable experience for my students while ensuring that they are developing the skills and discipline required for progress. I take my own piano studies quite seriously, alongside my continuing Suzuki teacher training. I try to approach both playing and teaching with humility, consistency, and faith. Most of the time, I’m rewarded! Learning to play the piano is a long game— life long, in fact.

The Suzuki Method

How do children learn their first language? With the unlimited time of childhood, a home environment full of the language, and lots of listening, copying, repeating.

Bit by bit, words and meaning accumulate. Then the child learns to read the words.

Music is a language. Suzuki students focus on technique and ear training first. Note reading comes after a basic facility in playing has been established.

The heart that feels music feels people.
