Parents and practice

At lessons, I set practice points and goals. Parents help their child repeat the practice points at home. To do this, parents must attend lessons and take notes. Eventually, music students can practise on their own, but in the beginning, the Suzuki Method relies on the mutually-supportive triangle of parent, child, and teacher.

Essential Information

I teach adults and children. Lessons are weekly, in my home studio 5 miles from Oxford city center or at Summertown Arts. I am currently full on weekends.

If you are looking for a piano teacher for your beginner child, please note that I am a Suzuki Method teacher and have a waitlist for private lessons. A limited number of weeknight lessons will be available starting September 2026. A new small group for children aged 3-4 will also begin in September 2026; please get in touch if interested.

Pianos

I can share a voucher for a £500 discount from Mark Goodwin Pianos—please contact me for this.

Pianos need expert care—Gavin is my technician for tuning and more.

Footrests and benches

Children need proper seating—here’s the bench I use in my studio.

Children also need their feet supported—click here for one option.
